Costa Rica was a wonderful experience- one that everyone should have. I suggest that anyone interested in learning the SPanish language or culture should study abroad somewhere. And Guanacaste was especially amazing.

Costa Rica will capture your interest right when the plane lands. Everyone should have a chance to get out of the country, and Costa Rica is the place to do it!

Would you suggest converting some US dollars to colones prior to leaving?

What a wonderful experience! We sent our two sons - the older was a college senior minoring in Spanish and the younger is currently an LC senior. Each had a fabulous time, learned so much, became more proficient in Spanish and formed strong friendships with each host family. Our older son is still in frequent email contact with his Tico family. Our younger son has both email and phone contact with his family and will be traveling back to visit/stay with them this summer. We could not have asked for more!!

This is a marvelous experience for students. They have the study/homestay experience which is invaluable. In addition, they have a variety of activities which help them garner a greater sense of la vida cotidiana de los ticos. The ecotourism of the country is well-known. Thus, the excursions afford students the opportunity to delve into several different terrains/ambientes/adventures. The built-in service opportunity is an extension of the main focus of the Lawrence Central Spanish Club! This adds another touch of humanidad to the program. The language development and all the other benefits of this program will pay dividends for these young adults for years to come!

This is a fantastic opportunity for students. The benefits of study abroad are many--from personal growth and development to learning the language to making life-long friends. Studying in another country affords many fresh possibilities. Most students learn as much out of class as in it. Studying abroad prepares students to live and work in our increasingly multi-cultural world. I highly recommend this program.
